The church on the hill. St Colombas is a tiny historic church in a blink and youd miss it locale. Its loveliness is in its classic NZ wooden pioneer style. Architecturally designed by the celebrated architect Frederick de Jersey Clere, its another stunning example of what pioneer Kiwis could do with the little they had available to them. Arson in the early 1900s almost put an end to the building but it still stands today. Its a monument to the glory of God and to the hard working early settlers of the area.

I pulled off the main road to try and find some dark sky for astronomy, and stumbled on this beauty. Gorgeous old church, in the middle of nowhere, I'll definitely be coming back for more photos when it's a bit darker!
