We finally managed a family getaway, walking the Nydia Track with Miss 13 and Miss 5. We were absolutely blown away by the amazing and generous service offered by 'Spud' at On The Track lodge (and Denise and Dean of Pelorus Sound Water Taxi & Cruises). Despite epic delivery issues, the food he single-handedly prepared was awesome and soooo yummy! The dining rooms, facilities and accommodation were clean and welcome, and the kayaks perfect for adventuring around a beautiful part of NZ. Seeing the wild deer congregate on the lawn was amazing. Great job, Spud, we look forward to visiting again.

The On the Track Lodge is tucked away in a sensational spot among the Marlborough Sounds. The accomodation and facilities are brilliant and it makes you feel at home. With plenty of activities such as board games, kayaking, paddle boarding, and even a hot tub, it is hard to run out of things to do at this place. Spud the man in charge provided great service and also provided divine meals which he cooked all himself. On the day of my departure I was wearing a rubbish bag as a rain jacket, when Spud told me that was not smart and he lended me his jacket which was a wonderful gesture. Overall I highly recommend On the Track Lodge as it is a great spot to get away and enjoy some time in nature away from the city.

Gorgeous, clean, comfortable and warm accommodations with an assortment of unique structures to choose from, including a train carriage, cabins and a yurt. Nestled in a valley by the bay and surrounded by bush, it is a not-to-be-missed experience. We were asked about food accommodations before we arrived (appreciated!) And we greeted by fresh cupcakes that we could both eat (damned food allergies!), ushered around the grounds (hot tub! Paddle boards! Kayak! Dry room! Library! Kitchen! Pizza oven!) And lead to our gorgeous cabin with a wrap around porch. Meals were stunning, delicious and spared no detail. take-away lunches, snacks and freshies were brilliant (the best homemade chewy granola bars ever!) Owner provided us with directions to gorgeous walks nearby. Recommended at least a two night stay minimum to take it all in. Bring water shoes or a change of shoes as there are many streams to walk through getting there. Beautiful hike in from Kaiuma Bay and for those not wanting the hike, get there by water taxi. But get there. It's a must!
