Used the Mailboat as our mode of transport out to the bach in Pelorus Sound. From my initial email enquiry to eventual arrival at our destination, the process was easy and relaxed and it's a great way to see a bit more of this beautiful part of the world at a reasonable cost. Thanks Ross and Lauren for a great trip!

We had an awesome day in the sounds in the Mail Boat. The views are magnificent and it is great to have a glimpse of how "real people" live there. Everyone is chatty, the wharfs on the way are all different, the staff on the boat is lovely (special mention to Lauren). It is more of a contemplating trip than something really active and young kids might find it a bit long, but with the (short) break for lunch it is still alright.

We booked thru the Pelorus site. I wish I had checked out the Grab one deals as I could have saved a lot of money by buying thru GrabOne. So check out both sites first. I was disappointed with our timing for our trip as the commentary could not be heard from upstairs on the rooftop which forced us to go downstairs. The upstairs speaker had not been working for a while they waited for a part. Upon going downstairs, we found the windows could not be seen out of!! There must be some cleaning agent to get the film off the windows and there should be a policy that all windows should be cleaned before each trip. The blurb explained there was complimentary tea and coffee thru' out the day but unfortunately the zip was broken and we only had hot water for the first hour so were advised to have our hot drink early. Surely an extra big thermos could have been purchased and refilled at the lodge. Lastly, we were never advised of the opportunity to have a farm tour. The blurb explained to bring your own lunch or lunch at the lodge. The lodge had got great reviews so we chose to support them. However, if we had known about the farm tour, we would have taken our own lunch and being ex farmers we would have loved to have had the opportunity to see what farming was like in a remote area. This company needs to do better, improve on their advertising, lower their costs and provide a better service to tourists who are wanting to support them!
