We stayed in the quirky train carriage, although it's not luxury, it's cosy, very novel and thoughtfully fitted out and the shower has good pressure hot water despite its size. The owner and farm hand were friendly and helpful and they have some lovely animals you can help feed. A bonus is the area had very little background light, so the stargazing was phenomenal. There was no TV reception but internet had recently been installed and it worked well. All up a fun few nights away.

Not what we expected, especially for the money. The Yurt had a very damp musty smell, which lingered even with the dehumidifier working all night. We got there at 7.30 after warning the owner that we would be a bit late and we couldn't raise him. Eventually, had to ring and he was not too impressed at being disturbed from his TV. The shared kitchen is very basic but the bathroom was not too bad. Bed was good. We complained about the musty smell and he seemed pretty casual about it blaming the wet weather which he "couldn't do anything about". Not recommended for decerning travelers and far too expensive for less decerning people I would have thought.

This is a really unique accommodation glamping option in Kaikura. We booked a tipi and it was spotlessly clean. Each option you choose (there's a range of amazing places to choose from including wagons, trains, yurts, cabins) comes with a outdoor kitchen and seperate toilet and shower with hot water. Breakfast for us was in the tipi, with coffee, tea, cereals, bread and farm eggs. The cool thing for us was you are on a working farm and can help feed the animals. Our daughter loved it. Definitely recommend this to my friends, and if i lived in NZ, id def book again. I think you have to remember you're glamping on a farm though, so you need to be prepared it's not a luxury hotel. (btw Also a good running route near here along the river).
