Beautiful walk. The view from the tip of the snout was worth the time and energy. I happened to be there at the right time to watch one of the Interisland ferries heading out to Wellington. The 160 meter elevation gain listed is accurate, but you will actually do that gain twice as the trail ascends to that height twice after falling back to just above sea level. Trail is well-marked and in good shape. Just make sure to take a little extra water. The road to the car-park was temporarily closed. I parked at Endeavour Park. You can go around the gate on foot or bicycle. There are several trails that intersect/parallel this one and accommodate bicycles as well as foot traffic. It is not wheel-chair friendly. I went on a Thursday afternoon. I saw 25-30 people the entire time.
