Unbelievable value. Utterly gorgeous heritage building, lovingly restored. Friendly and welcoming staff. Serene and beautiful, hard to believe you're still close to town. Huge rooms, furnished to accentuate the heritage nature of the building. With shared kitchen and bathroom facilities this place is a unique blend: down to earth hostel style (and price!) hospitality in a luxury, chandeleired heritage building. Can't recommend enough.

I stayed in three of the rooms at Fellworth House and they were all palatial, beautifully appointed with antique furniture and chandeliers. There is even a chandelier in the bathroom! All rooms have soaring ceilings and original, finely crafted windows. Room 2 has excellent views over the city and harbour, best in winter as the sun shines in all day. Room 1 faces west, so it gets afternoon sun and sunset views, it also has a stunningly comfortable gold and pink armchair. Room 3 is the largest (they are all large!) and perfect for hot summer days with its cool southern outlook onto immense and ancient trees. As only single occupancy is permitted, there is a stillness and tranquillity here that is rare in other accommodation. Aleksandra is a gracious and unobtrusive host, the staff are helpful and friendly, and the owners of this property have been meticulous in their restoration, management and maintenance of this historic and lovely building. It was a great pleasure to stay here.

I absolutely loved my stay at this guesthouse for solo travelers. Being a solo traveler the name was the first thing to catch my eye. The historic and restored house was the 2nd. The house alone is just beautiful and was restored immaculately with the perfect blend of antique and modern! Being on a hill, the drive up is a bit nerve-wracking and parking is tight, but the views from the balcony and dining area are worth it! You can also walk up directly from the street via a beautiful wooded stairway. The room I had was comfy and the communal kitchen, dining, and lounge areas were great. The other guests were all respectful of peoples items in the kitchen, which I thoroughly appreciated. It was nice, too, because the mother and son who own the house and run the dental surgery downstairs (where you check-in when you arrive) live on site, so they were interactive w/all the other guests. My first evening there felt very familial with everyone making their dinners and chatting, it was nice. For me, however, the highlight was the bathroom. Even though it is shared, I never had any issues with access and it was so luxurious! They had a glass-doored shower w/a bathing wand, but the piece de resistance was the Victorian high-back tub. I dont know how long it has been since I have had a bubble bath and a glass of wine, but I loved this place so much I stayed a 2nd night just to make that dream a reality and it was divine! The price for the room was very reasonable, especially considering the location and the house itself, so if you are in Nelson, this is the place to stay! I even found a great little takeaway spot a 5-min walk from the house and the entrance to Centre of NZ monument is literally 50m away!
