Really disappointed in Avis Nelson, I contacted them as soon as I landed in Auckland to report I had left something valuable in the car. Nobody answered the phone for three days. When I finally managed to talk to a person, they said nothing was found in the car, which is impossible--as the item was left in the locked car ready for cleaning. I used the email service and even friends of Nelson to go and try fetching the item. Avis spent the next 2 weeks sending me automated notifications that were impersonal, ineffective and like Groundhog Day. I responded to the emails, and they continued to send me the same automated email, of no consequence. If you try and find a head office number for Avis NZ, good luck. Avis for me historically was always an upmarket and trustworthy company, but I don't feel that service is still there today.

Car stunk, must be freshly cleaned inside but left with windows up. Windscreen soaking wet so unable to drive but just tough luck after going back to the office, just have to wait for heater to clear, not possible to get a usable car or any service from staff. Recommend going elsewhere.

Booking confirmed for 730am , they did not open until 830am.Why added 730 as a possible pick uptime?

We hired a car from Avis (Nelson) last month and had a really good experience with their service. Initially I was quite skeptical given the cheaper than market rates, but the car we got was solid and the pick up experience was great. What really blew us away was what happened at drop off. On the night we were due to drop off the car and fly away from Nelson, we locked some luggage in the boot, dropped off the key, and had lost all hopes in retrieving them. We called the customer service help line after hours, left a message, and a staff member actually retrieved the luggage and dropped it off at the airport for us before we flew off. It was outside of his working hours. We're eternally grateful. Thank you again for your amazing service.
