Mum & Dads Place

Grant and Pauline provide the most amazing, relaxed hospitality. Scrumptious meals, treats and coffees are quickly whipped up using a lot of fresh produce straight from their garden. The kids loved getting to feed the horse and ducks. We were so spoilt, we were treated like family! Can't wait to visit again.

It was the Sunday night of Waitangi weekend And what a trip it had been. The Twin Coast Cycle, the Waipoua Forest and everything in-between. Although we were tired we were happy. Us Aucklanders were heading for home But then petrol went in, not diesel...it very quickly changed the tone. We came to a halt by a maize farm The two year old needed the loo The hubby was calling the towy, and then the four year old needed to poo. We were carted to the big smoke of Dargy But there wasn't one single bed left So the call went out to the folks...these guys need a place to rest. And that's when we arrived at Mum and Dad's place With our cranky toddlers running amok We were shattered but oh we were grateful...this was pretty amazing luck. When we awoke the next morning The cafe was well underway, there were chickens and horses and butterflies And a view that could kick start your day. After an SOS to my sister, we knew things would surely be right Our car would stay in Dargy, and we would be in our own beds that night. To us it's the #dargasaga, and we'll remember it for a very long while. The kindness, the love and the coffee and for just going that extra mile.
