Hundertwasser Public Toilets

We have often stopped here on the way home to Akld or Northward bound. Parking close is sometimes tricky or we have done so by stopping and parking on the yellow lines on one side of the loos. Not ideal esp when u have a kazillion grandchn on board and want to park close and on the same side as the wharepaku. We dont want to have 2 cross the road with our mini entourage. Toilets themselves are quite low and not sure why built like that, maybe design feature. Aesthetically and as an iconic stop it's a smart tourist choice and attraction. As a kiwi whanau, it's an appreciated stop option. When there doesnt look like any avail close parking space in town as we drive thru, we tend to keep going.

If you love colors and patterns, if you love fun, curving wavelike shapes, if you have a sense of whimsy and can appreciate things that are out of the ordinary, you will love this place. In fact these are likely to be the most outstandingly unforgettable toilets you will ever visit. If you dont find on-street parking nearby, you can pull in just beyond the park past the toilets and park behind the Hundertwasser Center and public library. Id visited Hundertwasser sites in Austria, and Id never realized he spent so much time in New Zealand during the last 30 years of his life. So cool!
