I do not recommend staying here, we stayed here on the 20th - 21st of February celebrating our anniversary, we booked weeks in advance including a reservation at the onsite bar and restaurant, on arrival we were told that the restaurant was closed and we would have to find another place to have dinner, there was no communication prior to our arrival about this. overnight our car although parked directly below our room was broken into we were not alerted to this and found our car with a smashed window and damaged ignition wide open and our belongings scattered around it, despite numerous staff - grounds keeper and house keepers being around and close to the car not a single staff member alerted us to the damage and we had to gather our belongings and inform reception ourself, although we greatly appreciated the help received from the receptionist at the time, we have made multiple calls in order to speak to management with excuse after excuse and despite many requests for a call back we havent heard a thing. we would not recommend this place to anyone.

Opononi is a glorious location, but the heads resort is an absolutely disgusting, filthy, run down severely over priced hole. The facilities shouldve been advertised in a honest manner and at a reasonable cost, really disappointed. Walkability: Lovely beaches and bush walks nearby.
