This has the name resort in its title, but I wouldnt really call it that. It is a totally functional hotel that has a reasonable room and a decent restaurant. The location is great as it is right next to the beach and within walking distance of the pier and restaurants. I dont have any major complaints about the room but its not going to impress you or anything; its clean and everything works and there is enough space to get things done so thats really all you need in a hotel room.

We were slightly disappointed by our stay with Paihia Beach Resort & Spa for our honeymoon. The photos on the website are definitely not up to date with the current state of the hotel. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, the pool was nice, and it is a great location, but the whole hotel desperately needs some overdue renovations and updates. The bathroom fan in our room was broken, the cupboards were very worn with multiple scratches and warping from water damage, the jacuzzi was broken, very slow wifi, street parking only, short staffing in the day spa meant booking times were very limited, and while the breakfast was good, options were quite limited. There is significant rust damage to the staircase as well, having eaten through half the rail in some parts. In terms of electronics, the room still boasts a cassette player (possibly in need of an update). While we still enjoyed our stay, we definitely felt that they oversold and underdelivered and it was not worth what we paid. Speaking to the locals, the resort appears to have this reputation; one resident laughingly asked "Are they still trying to claim 5 stars?" We were overjoyed to hear as we left that they have graciously reduced their rating to 4.5 stars (with no perceptible price change).

We thought we were booking the best hotel in town and happily paid a rate of $350 excluding BF ,the experience we had was horrendous starting with basic facilities even an Air BNB would offer like WiFi did not work ,no staff at the reception at all time except check inn where only keys were handed with no further discussion, no parking on site was available as the property is undergoing some dispute we studied ,we were on double occupancy with room having amenities for one occupant only no milk pods in the room ,all night the mini bar made a wired noise in the morning we called reception no answer we had to go extra mile to order for two coffees to the room which when arrived smelled absolutely burnt. On check out we took down the two cups full to be able to communicate the issues faces the GM arranged at the desk and said we were late for check out addressed that the check in and out time is on the check in agreement thats signed by us and expected us to read every detail but did not accept that the reception staff needs to share all of this during guest arrival as a part of enhancing a 1st timers experience!! Honestly the most disappointing stay I had being a part of the hospitality industry for over 10 years I feel they failed to meet the bare minimum .
