Disappointing to be honest. Caprese salad was unripe tomatoes?? Why?? For food people pay for make an effort and use ripe tomatoes... what would someone say to unripe tomatoes if this was in Italy? Lack of flavour all round, service average. You ask customers if the food is ok, people don't want to feel like making a fuss and usually restaurant staff can't handle honest feedback. You rudely make a joke about my unripe tomatoes comment.... the fact that you can't recognize it's not ok to serve unripe tomatoes a concern - if you need to ask the customer if that is ok then you are in the wrong industry.

Weve been going to Akeake for years. We were excited to try Sovrano cause who doesnt love Italian. Overall heres our takeaways Pros: Pizza was delicious- the highlight. Ive worked at pizzeria napoletanas in USA and the smell of the room when the pizza was cooking was spot on! Wine was beauty. Had the Chianti 2021. Much better than NZ reds. Choc orange mousse was beautiful. Almost topping the pizza! Partners eye fillet was cooked perfectly rare to his liking. Cons: Service was average especially in comparison to Akeake. Crust on top of linguine de mare was not cooked properly and when owner asked how it was I gave feedback and the excuse was that the pastas steam made it this waybut it was doughy as. Would have preferred it without. Pasta tasty but nothing to rave about. Tiramusu not traditional but the cream was tasty the sponge was dry. Would definitely visit again for a bottle of wine and pizza. Room for improvement to make it the place to be in Kerikeri.
