Sal's Authentic New York Pizza - Whangarei

Went here for lunch today and the pizza was cooked and served perfectly. The young lady that cooked and served us had the most beautiful smile and pretty eyes that made me melt more than the Wisconsin mozzarella cheese adorning my pizza I believe this young lady's name started with a "J"... (I overheard her workmate say her name, but couldn't catch it clearly unfortunately).

Delicious and true NY style pizza. Had half of a large pepperoni at the restaurant, then half the next day at home, tasted just as good. If you're not from NZ (like us) and find most pizza here a bit sweet, look no further, this is the place to go. Also, the guy working behind the counter was an absolute gem, super friendly, prompt, and when he packed up our leftovers he gave us a little extra treat. We're definitely going to be back before leaving Whangarei, probably several times more!

Worst pizza Ive had in a long time. Cheese was like plastic and the dough was dry. The meat is not fresh- seems like it was heated multiple times.

Best NY pizza outside of the country! I grew up in NY so I know my pizza. Lots of places claim to have NY style pizza then you try it and it's nowhere near as good. The crust is usually too thick, the sauce (or gravy if you're a real Italian New Yorker) is too sweet etc etc Sal's is Authentic New York pizza. It's just that simple. For once, truth in advertising. Try it, you may love it (you will if you love NY pizza), or you may not... But it's definitely worth a try. I highly recommend Sal's New York pizza!

These guys are great! Whenever I am in Whangarei I always make sure to have a Pepperoni pizza from Sals. Theres nothing else like it in NZ. My only suggestion would be that if youre going there order in advance online before you get there. I did and I could see my pizza sitting on top of their warmer but had to wait for customers taking their sweet time. The staff do an excellent job and are very patient.
