My husband does a lot of local and international shipping. This is the company he relies on for it all. There's a smart group of people who work here and they are on the ball. The employees are very kind and professional. We will continue to use them as long as we live in NZ!

I was in an airline lounge listening to a "gentleman" on the phone talking about how he needs to stand an employee down for a disciplinary meeting and that "he [the employee] needs to go". As an employment law specialist my eyes rolled in to the back of my head at the realisation I was listening to yet another manager/employer about to embark on a so called employment investigation with a predetermined ("he had to go") outcome. The "gentleman" and the lady he was travelling with went on to make separate phone calls introducing themselves as Mr. and Mrs. Spittle, I later Google and discover that they run the Northland franchise for Aramex. Therefore, Aramex Northland is not publicly displaying the attributes of a fair and reasonable employer. Of course, to justifiably take an action against or dismiss an employee under the Employment Relations Act, the employer must not only have a good reason (substantive justification) but they must also follow a fair process (procedural justification). Mr. And Mrs. Spittle ought to be careful, as it is entirely possible for the process followed in dismissing an employee to be so bad that there is also not a good reason Any employee recently dismissed who was not properly afforded an opportunity to comment, or whose explanation was not genuinely considered, would be warmly welcomed to reach out to me.
