I'd give these rip off artists a zero star if I could!! I've been dealing with a keloid on my ear lobe for about 6 years. After 4 surgery's with 4 different doctors it kept growing back (each doctor charged me between $250-$300 for surgery). My GP said that these guys at Skin Institute may be able to help otherwise he himself can give me cortisone injections to help minimise the problem for $25 each session. I opted to get referred to these people. After a couple of weeks I get a call from these people saying it's a month or so wait time and that they think a combination of Botox and cortisone with shrink it and that I'll need 3 visits after the initial consultation (I was under the impression that they would be removing the keloid during this consultation as the price was $325 + $75 for the injections). I said that's fine but I'm traveling from Oamaru with is $200 in gas there and back, rescheduling a $600 booking in my business so do I need to pay up front or can I pay it off. The lady I spoke to said we will send an invoice and you can pay it off. I get to Skin Institute and for the first 10min me and the doctor talk watches as I noticed he had the same watch as I own then proceeded telling me his girlfriend works at Partridge Jewellers! (Ask him!!). The next 10 minutes was talking facts about the keloid that I all ready knew. He then said that cortisone will shrink it and I'll need 3 sessions ( remember my GP said he could do it for $25 each session, 3 in total). Then says Botox "MAY" help! "MAY" is not acceptable for what they charge. Charge for each session over $100! I was in shock and said that's fine as long as the deal of paying them off was still fine! He went to reception and came back and said I need to pay in full today! $325 for 20min consultation, 10 mins of talking watches, 10 minutes of talking basic facts that I already know (no surgery). I said I'm leaving as you people went back on your word. I left the room and went to reception and the rude lady demanded I pay right now. I said I only have $100 cash. She said give the money and invoiced me for the remainder. My GP knows more about keloids then these rip off artists! Trust me I'll be writing these reviews everywhere I can unless you people reimburse me for fuel $200, consultation $100 that I paid and loss of income $600 due to this!!

I had a recent check up at the Skin Institute. I was kept waiting for an extra 15 minutes for my appointment, even though I arrived early. An apology was offered. Just 20 minutes later, I came out of the check up, with some minor CO2 treatments. The bill was over $270. So over $800 an hour these doctors are earning. What about the cost of living crisis? Just wondering how these prices can be justified for such a short treatment period?

The Skin Institute provide excellent customer service and treatments. Megan was great, and made sure to explain everything as she did my yearly skin check. Amy was also brilliant, and went above and beyond to provide great service and make sure my treatment for rosacea went well. As well as making sure I had my after care sorted. The front desk staff are also lovely. SI carries a very good range of skin care at a variety of price points.
