Kiwi Birdlife Park

WE SAW KIWIIIISS!! And we saw reptiles that lived with the dinosaurs and they are called Tuataras!! Morepork owls! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great time spent learning about the transformation of the place where Kiwi park is located. A paradise of native flora and fauna!

A great introduction to a few of New Zealand's well-known and lesser known native animals and birds. The Kiwi display house and talk was very good, as was the keeper's excellent informative and slick display of some key animals, giving a closer encounter than in a display cage. They are actively supporting conservation efforts in the wild by breeding birds for release. The work they are doing on rewilding their own site is also impressive and is easy to support by purchasing a native tree or shrub to be planted on site by them. Last but not least, they do a good coffee and a small select gift shop too.

Really worthwhile visiting to see a Kiwi bird up close. They are fascinating looking birds. Also lots of other unique cool native NZ birds and flora to look at. I had a great time. The staff were lovely, and the Kiwi show presenter did a great job.
