Please dont trust Google Maps like we did as this cruise is 45 minutes out from Dunedin on the Otago peninsula, not where the office is in the wharf area. So we missed out on this wonderful trip. Also hotel staff are pretty clueless as well.

For the first 15-30 minutes this was a great tour, but then we just rocked around (like a wild roller coaster) in the water in circles. The poor tour guide had run out of things to say. There is only so much to talk about when it comes to the distant wildlife. Maybe there are more eventful days as far as wildlife spotting goes. Our tour would turn the most stomach-hardened person green . Try and choose a calm day, and perhaps just view everything from the land. Being on the water was fun for the first little bit, but the trip could have been half the time.

Booked the 1hr tour as a last minute to-do on an otherwise empty Saturday, and im so glad i did! It was fun, informative, and the woman working at the ticket hut was so incredibly friendly and kind. My only suggestion is if you plan on taking the public 18 bus out, make sure you check the return schedule! I got stuck for a few hours after my tour, but no complaints here! I took a nap in the dunes of a nearby beach. Overall, an absolute dont miss experience at a great price
