The Lodge (Self-Contained)

Decided, suddenly, to get away for a night. I finish at 8pm so it had to be within a 1 hour travel distance from Dunedin. Rang up the Lodge Middlemarch with a long list of requests. They handled everything I threw at them with enthusiasm. Antipasto platter for 2, drinks, easy access, late checkin and out. We had a lovely night. I was greeted with smiles and an offer of a pint of Emersons beer. The room was a good size clean and well presented with a little table and comfortable chairs to dine at. The platters of cheese and meats was generous and tasty. The king sized bed was very comfortable. We slept well as the road is quiet. In the morning I woke first, grabbed a mug of tea and sat on the porch munching on fresh strawberries from the breakfast fridge. Continental breakfast is included in the price. The shower was the best in a light airy bathroom. My partner and I have different days off so when we get a chance to get time away together , we want it to be special. The Lodge filled the bill perfectly and is now a place we will use regularly.
