There are two ways to do the moonlight track; either start from Arthurs point or start from moke lake. If you choose to start from Arthurs point, you have uphills a lot sooner than if you start at moke lake (a good way to get them out of the way early). Dont start mountain biking from here. Its too rocky and steep to cycle uphill, we encountered a couple who had to push their bikes up the steep incline over rocks, didnt look fun. If you are biking, do it from skyline to the Ben Lomond saddle and down this way towards Arthurs point. Or you could start from moke lake where its flatter and the uphills from there are smooth slopes and not as rocky. At this spot therere enough parking places for about 8 cars. There was only one car there when I went on a Friday afternoon. Shortly into the hike you will see a stunning view of Arthurs point . It undulates so you get some flat sections and gentle uphills, then steep uphills. As you get higher the winds get stronger and it was cold even though we did this in summer. Have a jacket or windbreaker with you. About 1.5 hours into the hike, you will see signs and another trail on the left that points towards the Ben Lomond saddle. You could either choose that, or continue on the main track towards Moke lake. From here you get a few more downhills and uphills. But after 2.5 hrs youd reach a beautiful valley with an amazing view of the pastures and mountains below , with a fairly straight path down on a gentle slope. It gets super easy from there to moke lake. My friend and I completed the whole track in 3 hrs 45 min , including a 20min lunch break. And we were taking it easy on the slopes, so Id say this was pretty manageable

Make sure you wearing warm clothes, have lots of Water and Snacks with you. Its a long walk and you dont want to rush the steep walk. Beautiful views. Really worth going
