        Alcohol is banned on premises (not mentioned in their website), the hot water for the shower is free for the first 6 minutes only and you then need to pay. Religion is a bit too much advertised to my taste (main hall with a big sign Jehovah Nissi: The LORD our Banner). This place is not advertised as such and it feels more like a conference hall for religious groups. All these things made me feel uncomfortable. The lodge is a 10 minutes drive front downtown Wanaka (technically speaking its in Albert town).

        The staff were hopeless. In the morning after departure we asked the female owner to phone a taxi and she much rather let us go and stand in the rain asking to hitch hike. We did not feel comfortable doing such an activity. Our phones were not connecting to the cellular reception and could not phone anyone ourselves. The taxi company was on hold (position 2) but she said she doesnt understand what was happening. The incompetence was confusing. Noteworthy details: Its a religious hostel
