Aspiring Guides

Great guides, and a great overall experience summiting Mt Aspiring. You have to allow for general uncertainties with weather when planning any mountaineering trip, but Aspiring Guides did a great job, highly recommended.

Tom Willmott is an exceptional Guide and the Fox Glacier is an amazing location. Great bunch of guys too. Awesome trip!

Fantastic time with Aspiringagain, Dan was a great guide, safety paramount with the patience of a saint and an encouraging word when things got tough. Highly recommend him and the company, thanks for a thrilling trip, see you next year!

I had an excellent ascent of Mt Aspiring with Aspiring Guides and my climbing guide Andrea. I was very happy on their introduction to mountaineering course a few years ago so chose Aspiring Guides for my first big ascent. Communication and preparation from the whole team was excellent in the lead up to the trip. This and flexibility in adapting to the weather made for a successful ascent. On the mountain Andrea was excellent in guiding me through the practicalities / skills required and supporting me when I struggled. Always safe, efficient and highly skilled I learnt a great deal from Andrea about everything from gear to techniques to mental approach. He calmly explained the appropriate technique for each situation as we transitioned and was encouraging with a gentle "just a little bit more" when I thought I couldn't go any further. This helped me get to the top and achieve a long term dream that was fuller and more satisfying than I could have hoped for.

Beautiful place but guide left much to be desired. Guide had just flown back from Italy a couple days before the tour so was noticeably tired. The shoes they loaned were two sizes too small, and I informed him that I needed a bigger size. He looked annoyed and said there were no bigger sizes and that I'll be fine. After one day of trekking in them my toe nails were bruised and fell off a few days after. The ice climbing trip was also called off due to bad weather so a three day trip turned into one and half day. No refund was provided, and they tried to encourage me to go on a rock climbing tour. I explained that the damage to my toes would mean I couldn't climb, they still said it should be fine??! Really the worst experience I've had on an adventure tour... --- I believe I have the right company, in spite of the unprofessional and unpleasant experience, your technical mountaineering book was an interesting read.
