Fable Dunedin

I had a knee injury and I couldnt walk properly since i was wearing a knee brace but they went the extra mile of finding us another room thats right in front of the elevator (for less walking) without us asking for it. So, I really want to thank the staff working that day (19/08) for making my stay so comfortable. The services given by the staff were excellent. They were always helpful and warm. They are available to help you 24/7. We originally planned to eat our dinner somewhere, but with the services we have received, we decided to try their restaurant (The Press Club) and oh my, it was the best decision we made that night. All the food we ordered were amazing. I had the rolled pork loin and it was the best! The guy that served us was very nice too. The exterior and interior of the building were stunning. The room where we stayed in was really pretty and very clean. My son didnt even want to leave the room (even just for a quick dinner and would rather had it room serviced). The bed was very soft and comfortable too! Overall, it was the best experience we had. Thank you so much, Fable Hotel. We are hoping to visit Dunedin again in the future and we are hoping to see you again.

Favourite hotel in New Zealand. Just lush. Made to feel like a million dollars. As a solo traveler felt safe and looked after. Staff offered great suggestions. Room was beautiful. Definitely be back asap. Rooms: Stunning. Warm. Well served.

Beautiful old building and has some charm to it BUT super disappointed with this hotel overall. Definately doesn't deserve it's 5 star status. I drew the shortstraw and was allocated room 712. The room has a very high window so you can't see out if it and also has no block out curtains just shutters that don't close properly so you don't have darkness at night and in the morning the light sunshine wakes you up super early. It is also located next to an elevator shaft that starts up every few minutes and sounds like an airplane engine is starting up next door. I was told it gets switched off at night but at 9.30pm it was still going. Bathroom has no space to pack your toiletries and shower splashes all over. Staff were friendly enough but nothing special. Food from the restaurant was also mediocre at best.

I just had to pipe up and leave a review for this sanctuary. I've been on the road for work across the country for weeks and I was a tired, sorry mess when I arrived tonight at fable. I have experienced nothing but rudeness, attitude, unhelpful staff, horrible beds, tired and run down rooms and bugs in my accom around nz. I walked into fable tonight after a long day and I was greeted with the most welcoming smile, a Chai!, an iPad, helpful information and the most lovely energy from Charlotte that I so needed! I nearly cried. They processed my corporate travel information correctly (a first, all hotels have not done this up until now and demanded payment from me personally) ran me through everything I needed and sorted my car. I ordered the vegetarian risotto which is the first good meal I've had all week. The Creme brulee dessert was sensational. Fable, you have me for life. I'll be staying here not only for every work trip but for getaway weekends as well. Thank you x
