One step further and I am the furthest I have ever been - Samwise Gamgee Well its the very end of the Southern island. Its kinda what you would expect. There is a signpost. And a cliff. And a sunset/rise if you get lucky. And boy what it is. Its about 15 minutes walk from the parking lot through some sheepland. Romantic.

Hurrah! Made it as close to Antarctica as I can (this holiday at least!). It definitely felt like it too - super icy winds, so if you dislike the cold bring a warm jacket and a beanie! This is a free site - which had a free, decent size carpark. Unlatch the gate, and walk dow the path, and walk through the field down to the sign for your end of NZ experience. It's an easy enough walk, with lot's of sheep in the field next to you (ewe?), that make for photogenic photos.. No toilets here nor any shops, so hold on until Curio Bay (or.. if you planned poorly, like us, go back again to Curio Bay for toilets, snacks and drinks!)..

Nice 10 min walk down to the point. Great views out to Stewart island on a clear day.
