Kiosk Creek Campsite (DOC)

Have camped here numerous times over the past 45 years or so. Love the view and the birdsong in the morning is good. Robins, tui, bellbirds, tomtits, kingfisher, weka etc... Kea passing overhead. Stayed several days early January. Weather was great, stunning views across the valley to the mountains. Creek was dry at the road bridge but a short walk up the creekbed the water was flowing and disappearing under the shingle. Recommend heading up the Creek to where you find a track crossing it. Take the track on the left heading upstream and you will find a stunning waterfall less than 10mins away... Taking the track to the right takes you to the Eglinton Camp.

Very disappointing, over priced and looks like Doc don't want to be bothered .

Great quieter alternative to Cascade Creek. Gets the sun until the last moment. Never going to avoid sandflys on 94 so be prepared!

Many years close by was the Knobs Flat NZDA hut. Long gone now unfortunately.
