Fiordland Trips & Tramps

We didnt want to drive to Milford Sound and back because one person always misses out on the views and has to deal with the stress. But, there is also the worry of getting a bad driver. I booked with Trips and Tramps for the drive cruise and walk. The title completely undersells the day! What a brilliant decision! We were collected from our front door by a highly personable, highly capable and responsible driver and had a brilliant day. The commentary and information were excellent all the way. John told us the history of the area and the people as well as how farming and DOC work at present. Our small group of five made for good company throughout the day and stops could be as short or long as we wanted. We visited a number of sites for photo ops on the way, and he delivered us to the door @ Milford Sound ten minutes before our cruise with Mitre Peak Cruises departed. No fuss, no hurry. John collected us from the Cruise Visitor Centre and we enjoyed more great stories and information as well as more photo ops and short walks on the return trip. While we walked John wove flax into flowers and baskets. When we arrived back at Te Anau we could choose to be taken to a restaurant or home. What a great way to enjoy a fabulous day in the Sound - it was bright sunshine all day - and an excellent trip without the tension of driving. There was also a supply of tea and coffee in the van, and the lunch that can be purchased was delicious

All arrangements worked like clockwork for the logistics around the Dusky Track. We cancelled the previous year because of Covid risk and this year we were making last minute changes to numbers travelling, etc. and they handled it all very calmly.

Absolutely wonderful experience with this tour company. They took care of all the planning, made all the arrangements, and even provided curbside pickup and drop off. The guides were fantastic, extremely knowledgeable, and shared wonderful stories about the local history and culture. The views were breathtaking! Its hard to imagine so much was fit into three days. I would highly recommend booking a tour with Trips & Tramps.
