        Camped next to the hut in Jan. 1975, nice little summer storm had a rivers of water running through the tent. Stayed in the already full hut the next night as the track was closed. "great walk: obviously memorable !

        My favourite part of the Routeburn was staying at Lake Mackenzie. The hut has a lot of character and is situated right by the lake.

        Needs some more regular maintenance and cleaning on the bathroom but otherwise a perfect spot to stop for lunch
