        NEW Mintaro Hut opened for 2021/22 season, located over 1km further along the track, it's a sight for sore eyes (and feet)! Lovely new independent hut on the Milford Track, great communal kitchen, four 12-bed bunk rooms with great ventilation (and non-squeaky mattresses), solar usb charging for phones. Take a bed in a room at opposite end from the door out to bathrooms for a quieter sleep. Dip in the river is coldest here If any energy left at end of Day 2 and blue skies on arrival (and weather forecast looks bad following morning), drop your pack and hike up Mackinnon Pass with water, light jumper, and a snack (1 hour up, 1 hour for views and photos galore, 1 hour back down) You won't regret it, but you'll sleep soundly! Then take it easy on Day 3
