        Whats not to love about Fiordland - aside from the Sandflies. A quaint 2 Bunk hut with open fire sited on the western shore of Lake Monowai about 2/3rds the way up or 5kms from the top of the lake. Coordinates: S45*52.941 E167*21.693. Accessible only by boat, an A-frame hut that could do with a bit of a tidy/fix up. Still good to stay in but is looking a bit shabby. Could be a 3 bunk hut if 3rd person had a sleeping mat. If whats correct is written in the Hut book then this hut doesnt see a lot of use. Also tends to be pretty cold in the winter but in the summer high sun the hut ends up like a sauna. Sandlies can be prolific as you would expect. Electric River is 1.9kms across the Lake from this hut.
