Amelia-May Italian

Came here with my mother just last week as she had seen/walked by the shop many of times before and wanted to go inside to have a look around. My mother commented on how the clothes were lovely so she wanted to try some on, with us being apart of the "bigger girl" side of things we weren't expecting to find too much but that's okay because we were only looking. I personally felt like we were rushed to try on clothing, and a lot of the clothes, we agreed didn't suit our figure but that okay because its obvious people have different things more suited to them. Mum saw a nice overlay type shirt that we though would've been nice to TRY on but the shop assistant had other ideas and told us "I would prefer that you not try that as the material does not stretch" lovely thanks for letting us know, but I'm sure that when you yourself are trying on clothes and you realise they don't fit you (around your arms, legs bust or whatever) you immediately take them off anyway and say "oh well that's okay we'll try something else". The assistant was hovering us watching and making sure we didn't try it on, we were uncomfortable. NEVER in my life have I left a shop more quicker as this is not acceptable, working in a clothing business you should know the vocabulary and respect to know what words to use, we were fine looking at the clothes by ourself but instead we were being followed around. We left and my mother cried. I have never seen this type of thing affect her before and I was appalled. Being a bigger girl has it struggles but when you're specifically told not to try something on as your worried that we'll break it I'm sure people know when clothes don't fit them but being purposely told no, it hurts. having to comfort your mother over something you already struggle with is difficult as it is normally them comforting you. Will not be ever coming back. Regards.

Beautiful clothing, I really love the pants super comfortable and look nice on. Excellent Friendly customer service too. I definitely will be purchasing more items for my wardrobe from Amelia-may Italian.

From my very first experience at the Wanaka show in 2020...Amelia-May Italian has always been an amazing experience!.. So much variety and something for everyone, Stacie yet again generously donated some gorgeous clothes to auction for our Pink Ribbon Breakfast in Te Anau 2020/2021 so grateful! Love love love this shop x and the amazing service from Stacie x

What fabulously engaging, generously spirited and helpful women! Also gorgeous dress, service and gift wrapping all included in the experience. Make the time to call in, even if its last thing, but you'll wish you came earlier!

Had a very bad experience with a staff member who was rude. I did rate this place after the bad service but the owner deleted my review. She or he only allows 5 star ratings. Anything else is deleted.
