Staying on a working dairy farm is fantastic! The hosts invited us to watch the herd being milked one morning, which was both fascinating and entertaining. The guest house is separate from the main building and has recently been refurbished, and everything was incredibly clean. In fact, the entire farm is kept spotless. It has amazing views over the farm and Mount Egmont. The latter is a half hour drive and has some great hiking trails, so is worth a look. We stayed in NZ for two weeks and this was definitely the highlight of our stay. The farm is far from the bustle of life and I don't know of a better place to chill out and relax. It's a little isolated, but a great place for some quiet time. Stratford is 2 miles away and has a reasonable supermarket and some restaurants, but not much more.
