I first visited Dawson Falls (30 mins return to Visitor Centre) and then followed the Wilkies Pool loop to reach the layered pools. Several swimming spots if you can brave the cold!
I then took the Stratford Plateau, turning onto the Waingongoro Hut track. The massive swing bridge is a 1 minute detour, just before the hut.
To return, I walked back along Waingongoro Hut track and came by Ridge Loop Track back to the main road.
Totally recommend for anyone looking for a super varied, slightly challenging (stairs most of the way) but fairly short hike. Family friendly.
Bring toilet paper in case there isnt any. And there are lots of bugs in the toilet.
Good fun, even in overcast weather!
