On a clear day such great views of Mt Taranaki off in the distance. Good spot to stop for a picnic. Saw only one other car while having morning tea stopped there.

Spectacular scenery in every direction. Road a little scary at times with some large slips taking the road with it.. worth the drive.

Located along the Forgotten World Highway this is the second saddle from the Strathmore side. Named after a Maori chief The view overlooks what used to be the railway construction camp in 1910 and three Maori pa sites. There is a picnic table but be careful of traffic.
