Gateway to the Bridge to Nowhere, an easy walk after an easy jet boat ride up the river from Pipiriki (or put in the mahi and canoe/kayak down). The bridge itself is worth the walk with a guide to tell you the fascinating history of how it came to be. Plot spoiler, it was not always in the middle of nowhere. Round things out with a more adventurous trip to the twin Bridge to Somewhere (sign posted from the Forgotten World Highway, then set the GPS for Aotuhia, and drive the gravel road for ~23km from the Makahu turnoff, doable in a hot hatch). Then finish the day at the Bridge to Elsewhere, the locally coined term for the bridge leading out of Whangamomona going north. Hopefully one day a real person at Google will action the systemically rejected BtN, BtS and BtE Google Maps edits.
