Waitoetoe Campsite

Cute little campsite! No facilities so you need to bring in all your own water etc, and the grass was very long when I camped there meaning it was tricky getting the tent set up. You have to park your car at the top so you will be walking up and down the entry path. Lots of driftwood around so a nice fire was easy to get going (there are already fire pits around the site to use). There has been some serious erosion of the cliff down to the beach so the whole campsite is now pretty narrow, but this is as close as you can get to wild camping while still being on a DoC site. There are no rubbish bins so if you stay here please take your trash with you, unfortunately there was some rubbish about the place from previous campers. Perfectly positioned to see fantastic sunsets, and nicely sheltered from the wind, this is a great place if you want to camp away from the crowds and campervans.

Went camping here for a night (would've stay longer but got rained out) was so gorgeous its such an amazing spot only annoying thing was carrying everything back up the hill but still worth it

Came camping here for a couple of nights absolutely beautiful views and great waves couldnt help myself but constantly wanting to be in the water. Is a bit of a walk back up to the car park especially when taking all of the camping gear to and from camp site.

Beautiful place. Might want to have a good level of fitness as you have to leave your car in car park and walk down step hill to camp site.
