Stayed here on my third night on the Heaphy, 28th December 2020. Certainly glad to get there, after a long, slow, eight hour plus hobble from Lewis hut. Facilities are good, but hut was unfortunately chocker, with a guided tour group of 10 or so, having their meal cooked for them by their guide. So not much room for this 71 year old solo traveller. But we all managed to get fed in the end. I managed to have a pretty good rest, before setting off for Aorere Shelter, the last stop, the next day.

Nice oldschool Hut with a very nice Cooking area. Got a few pots and pans. There is also some dishwashing soap. You can make a fire in the oven there is plenty of wood outside. There are two toilets that are mostly clean. The campsite is very nice and a littlebit left from the Hut down a small path. If u follow that path behind the campsite all the way to the end you will come to a small creek or spring. The campsites are on wood planks. All in all it is a very nice Hut that is a littlebit oldschool and not so crowded as the modern more common huts, would recommend staying a night here
