Golden Bay Distillery Ltd

Found this place buy chance driving past. Stopped in and was offered some tastings buy the owner. Very interesting and very knowledgeable. He then had to leave and his daughter took over the tastings. No pressure to buy how ever after quite a few tastings had made up my mind on champion gin, tangelo liqueur and lime liqueur. Will be back next time im down those ways.

We rocked up at 10am on a Sunday and were treated to gin tasting and some great tips from the local (whom I call Kiwi Spirits Man - fabulous beard). The Gin was world class, and it's also the only distillery outside of Mexico which has its own Agaves. We left happy, tipsy, and with bottles of gin. While driving back through the mountains (after a good hike) Kiwi Spirits Man drove past, saw us and pulled over to take pictures for us. I can't recommend this place enough for the Gin and the friendly local knowledge of the area!
