When you first see the price tag, don't be put off. It's highly worth it. Easy and friendly check-in, wonderful route, super nice guide, perfect equipment. Especially notable: our guide Tom did a fantastic job, teaching us about the park and some maori culture. Just what we hoped for. All in all, we had a terrific day! Thanks, guys! Would highly recommend.

I went on the Southern Duo guided tour (walk + kayaking). Our guide Luke was helpful, very knowledgeable and super friendly. Overall an amazing experience to see the Abel Tasman Park (and even see some seals).

An awesome experience and totally recommended. We chose R&R Kayaks because of their "O" for "Oar-some" Kayak and Walk package as it fit perfectly for us with our kids (aged 14 and 12). Ro was so good to deal with, helpful, flexible and always easy to get in touch with (before and during the trip). We met up with him on the morning of day 1 and due to the forecast weather (south-easterly breeze) he suggested we tweak our package and flip the days as we would get more enjoyment from kayaking the second day, walking the first. This worked for us perfectly, he was able to help us with changes to the hut bookings which was super helpful. He even arranged an extra gas canister to be brought up by our guide the next day as we were going to be tight on supplies. Our guide for the kayaking day was Whitney (she was so cool, heaps of energy, great knowledge and she was able to effortlessly switch conversation to engage with the kids and also the adults). We were a little concerned that our gear (we were hiking and packed for up to 4 days) wouldn't fit in the kayak - we mistakenly assumed that water taxi would take the gear! But her kayak/bag Tetris skills were top notch and she found a place for everything. She had done her homework, knew all about the environment, animals and even the science of why the sand varied in colour and texture from beach to beach. OK - big tip everyone - order the lunch for the kayaking day. It was soooo good. After only a day of freeze-dried food and oatmeal it was heaven and good value. The lunch spot was Mosquito Bay, only accessible from the water and was superb. Great coffee too Whitney! Can't say enough about the whole experience. Hey, it's not cheap, but we all had a great time, learned a lot and it made our Abel Tasman experience memorable and broke up the hike superbly.
