Adult Mental Health and Addictions Services

Some of the workers are lovely but overall this place is pretty horrendous. Ive been with them on and off for 10 years and they, particularly the psychiatrists, tend to treat you like youre overreacting about your mental health problems. They assign you lazy, dodgy psychologists that arent very well adjusted themselves, and youre never taken seriously until youre in the middle of actually committing suicide. The building is disgusting and not taken care of. You are cattle stock to them, they just want to tick you off the list and discharge you asap whether youre healthy or not. Now that I can afford it Im paying for proper mental health care, Id advise the same to anyone who can. I have very little respect for this place.

Went in to ask for help as friend was having a manic episode and they told me to leave and would not give any advice.

Took my dad in to seek support today, which alone was huge step for him. He was noticeably highly agitated, suffering immense anxieties, and was clearly suffering. Upon arrival the receptionist were unwelcoming, arrogant and made us both feel uncomfortable. We were seen eventually, and although the 2 ladies were nice, my dad left more upset than when he arrived. For a place thats supposed to offer support and help for those going through mental health struggles, it was disastrous, disheartening, and a huge let down. Its ok to ask for help is the motto we see advertised everywhere, and yet when we do, thats how were made to feel. Its no wonder NZ suicide and murder rates are so high! Do better!! And fire the snotty nose receptionists

Went there with my son disliked it intensely the way a staff member made my son feel about his depression
