This is a dangerous place and should be shut down. Staff falsifying documents to cover their butts and doing completely the opposite no wonder there's so many deaths here. Overdoses and injections and withholding family against their wishes to visit, so patients can't speak out and that's not mentioning the rest of the abuse. What I been told verbally and what they've written is pure lies. This place and staffing need to be exposed and shut down and/ or a system and staffing overhaul. It feels like they're holding my son illegally but used the legal system to get him in there. Ethically and morally wrong. Apparently because I used words that are legal terminology my son and I are not allowed visits. And again made up a scenario that suits their narrative F U Henry Bennett Hospital and as for your Maori Support what a joke!! It is seriously ran like a concentration camp and will allow patients to video to put ward 35 in a better light. Once the video is done back to abusing the patients. I even had a nurse threatening to put me in because I waited to we my son for hrs but they wanted me gone because they lied about him being on the ward whilst he was elsewhere

Highly insanitary! WARNING Also they can write on your medical records with out any or police evidence that you have been involved in criminal activity even if your on the non criminal side of HBC making in unlikely to extremely difficult to get life insurance!

I am re writing this with some information taken out as my previous review was taken down. This is my experience and should be allowed as a review to show what it is really like in HBC. I was placed in Ward 36 at the Henry Bennett Centre, I was told by the male nurse in charge that I was a patient and not a person. I witnessed some very traumatic things in that ward. I would have been able to be managed in Ward 35 to begin with or in respite in the community. I was very scared and am now experiencing nightmares from my experience as HBC. I was not fed while in ward 36, they forgot my dinner and only gave me a yoghurt for dinner. I was placed in Ward 35 the day after where I heard a staff member call a patient a c#nt, that night a movie was playing with a r#pe scene and a man hanging from a tree ( movie was the revenent) A fight occured right next to me where the person brushed past me which was also scary. There was no routine or reaources to support patients and the ward was very loud and not a therapuetic environment to be in. I do not reccomended this facility as it is not fit for purpose, the staff are unprofessional and there is no therapeutic intervention. I have complained however the hospital has not recognised my complaint and just said they'll do better next time. The staff dont tell you what your rights are or explain processes and there was no routine or help provided.
