Track To The Top Of Mt Pauanui

Definitely not for the faint hearted. I am 47 yrs old and weigh 118kgs and I made it to the top took me 3 hours up and 1:45 on the decline coming out the cave end on the beach. Know the tide or youll get caught between the points. Beautiful walk, beautiful place, did this as a parent helper on school trip with 6 other parents, 2 teachers and 19 kids. I was the last but I did it, anyone can give it a go, take your time and breathe it out. Also met some lovely locals, young ladies very inspiring and positively motivating. You girls rock!!

As they say, its tough at the top! Took us around 26min to get up, very sweaty but was so worth it at the top. Quite steep in places but even the dog was able to make it up. Highly recommend doing this in the morning when its cooler and take in that beautiful view. James Ashwin Kakapo Business Sales

Challenging climb to the top but well worth the effort. Not recommended for the unfit. The track is formed but is subject to erosion and wear and tear. Suitable for accompanied children. Not suitable for jandals or flip flops. There are sections which must be climbed.

View worth the climb, if you take route in anticlockwise direction it is more scenic on descent
