Mangaokewa Reserve

As others have said, it appears that this reserve once accommodated happy travelers and campers as well as being a nice hiking track. Bridge to trail is now closed, and gates have opening and closing times. Seems like this is a (locals only) hang out spot. Reservation sits under a mountain so it can get quiet cold in the early hours of the morning here in winter. Best enjoyed during the later hours of the day id say. Gave it 3 stars as it's a nice little stop for anyone passing by on their roadie. Otherwise, it could have been a 4 stars or 5 if we could have experienced the walking track beyond the bridge.

No longer open to campers. There are no posted signs that indicate no camping. A woman drove to our tent site at 7:30pm and told us that we needed to pack up and leave immediately. Off limits to everyone after 6pm.
