        This site in Pkeno had a crucial role in the New Zealand Wars as the staging point for the invasion of the Waikato. The education centre, only open on Sundays from 10am to 2pm, has excellent interpretative displays that puts Queens Redoubt in its broader context of the Treaty of Waitangi; the wider New Zealand Wars and Mori/ Pkeh relations. Absolutely worth visiting.
