Had hydro seeding and top soil put down on our new build. Its been 10 months since we had the lawn sown. We've had quite a few problems with the lawn, from the initial glass/rocks seeping up to the surface and the establishment of grass going poorly. Lawn and turf did come and remove some of the debris. We realised that most of the issues occurred due to the top soil layer being really really thin. Even after professionals coming in to fertilize and treat the lawn, the grass is growing and recovering really poorly. Underneath the thin topsoil layer is clay. We're going to have to rip up the lawn, remove more clay, put down a thicker layer of top soil and reseed. The fescue rye used, while it looks really luscious, is a terrible grass considering climate change is becoming more of an issue. The water usage is quite high and is intolerable to droughts; we'll be changing to a tall fescue.

What a nightmare! The land around the house for our retirement was a bumpy mess of the remains of old plantings and weeds. We employed Lawn & Turf Contracting Ltd to get rid of the mess, level the ground, prepare the land for seeding and hydroseed new lawns. Four months later, the new grass was dying, full of deep holes, and the "lawn" was too lumpy to walk on. More seed was put down - it died. Complaints to Lawn & Turf Contracting Ltd for over a year produced rudeness, misinformation (worms?) and an offer to share the cost for reseeding. A legally employed expert stated that hydroseed was sprayed straight over the dead plants and weeds. There was no preparation, no levelling - the only remedy was to remove it all and start again. We couldn't face court action and lost over $2,000, which we could ill afford.
