If you find yourself anywhere near Pirongia, treat yourself to a stay at Amberfields. Our time with Linnie and Peter at Amberfields was one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand. My mom, two friends and I stayed at Amberfields for three nights to be near a local venue for our friend's wedding. During our initial conversation, I informed Linnie that we would be helping setup and clean-up the wedding venue and we would like to host the bride the night prior to the wedding. Little did I know that Linnie and Peter would pamper us beyond our expectations. Everything Linnie (and Peter) does is with such thought and care. They welcomed us into their home with such warmth and ease. Everything was incredibly well-planned and of high quality (e.g. lavender from the garden greeting us in our rooms, soft towels and bedding, fully stocked bathrooms, pitchers of water left on the night stands before bed, little bowls of candies, plenty of coffee, tea and even beer, wine and champagne--since this was a special bridal package). Their home and it's grounds are in impeccable condition (naturally) and it was such a joy to recover and relax from our bustling days at the venue with Linnie and Peter in utter comfort. Please also note that eating at Amberfields is quite an experience. Linnie is an excellent cook, the ingredients were always fresh, and she served us on a gorgeous collection of Depression Era glassware. Breakfast was truly a fine dining experience. Linnie also prepared several traditional dishes for us, much to the bride's delight. The bride even requested I bring one of Linnie's croissants for her and her new husband to enjoy the morning after the wedding. It truly felt like home during our short period at Amberfields and I know my friends and I will always remember our time spent there as fondly as the wedding. Thank you again, Linnie, Peter, Spike and chickens.
