My late great uncle, George Savage aged 24 yrs who tragically drowned - 1882 -was interred in this Cemetery. Born in Helsby,Cheshire,England, George migrated to New Zealand via eastern Australia,From just a name at the foot of his parents headstone..George Savage died New Zealand 1882, I have unovered a wealth of information. Possibly, my great uncle traveled under the Jules Vogel scheme. Was employed by Mr.Edward Tole. I have the press coverage detailing George's unexplained disappearance, the searches undertaken, recovery of George Savage's body + the reporting of the inquest & findings. I have copies George Savage birth and death certificate. I would have loved to see the cemetery where George was interred, thanks to Google, this is the nearest I will get to seeing where George is interred. Hopefully, I wish to get my findings published.. 'From headstone to grave'-my journey with George Savage. Rest in Peace,George Savage. David Savage and Alice Savage ..parents. Dedicated to the memory of an uncle I never knew, but, came to know. Judith Shore...nee Savage.
