My daughter's experience wasn't good.our midwife was so airy fairy n controdictionary. She didn't seem to care when my daughter was in distress during her pregnancy,we were told to tx not call and got ignored alot ..One appointment was about our midwifes divorce..not my child's pregnancy..she talked all about herself for 20 minutes and we were all gob smacked...When our baby finally came at the birthing unit she didn't notice the cord round her throat n suffered a lack of oxygen...You can form yr own opinions but I would not recommend Mary..

It would be great to see a few more recent reviews on here as we saw the 3 star average and werent sure what to expect. 2 (now 3!) reviews isnt a lot to go off of. We have had a lovely experience with the Thames birthing unit, who have been doing the best they can despite being under resourced. We havent had one consistent midwife throughout our pregnancy, its been a rotation depending on who is working. Each midwife weve had an appointment with has been kind, well informed and helpful in reassuring us our pregnancy is tracking as expected, answering our questions and offering resources that might be relevant. As the Thames unit isnt doing births at the moment, we will be giving birth in Hamilton and had to separately find a midwife there. Shes been happy meeting us a couple of times and reviewing our file from Thames and will be the one we call when we go into labor. After labor well be back with the Thames team for post natal. It has been very convenient having the services in Thames for monthly appointments and bloods, but scans have been a challenge as they usually require an hour plus drive. To wrap up - youd be in great hands with the Thames Birthing Unit team. Hopefully theyre able to increase their staff and receive a bit more well deserved funding for some upgrades in the near future, but we feel lucky we have access to the resources we do and such awesome local midwives.
