The health centre is quite popular, and at times it can be a little hard to book an appointment in person - however they also offer phone consults for less urgent things, which does definitely help. The Doctors are really great - quite thorough, and I feel they actually care about how you are. Overall I think they are a good clinic - but as the biggest clinic probably get a bit overwhelmed with patients at times (but thats like doctors everywhere).

I Have a friend who had a fall at home and as a result I took him to see his Doctor, at Waihi Health Centre, my friend is an elderly beneficary and had no funds to pay for is appointment, he was told by the receptionist that his appointment with his Doctor, Doctor Greaves, would not go ahead becouse he had no funds, as a result a complete stranger in the waiting room paid for his consultation. I had to take him to Whangamata for an Xray which revealed a fracture in his back. I am appalled at the service of this so called health centre, i am planning to take this matter further, I rang the receptionist to find out what there policy was in these circumstances, and was rudely hung up on mid sentence, total lack of empathy for someone in a great deal of pain disgusting and unprofessional.

Please if you are having chest pains don't waste time going to the GP. Please call 111 instead. These guys are overworked and understaffed and they will turn you away. A man died after they refused to assess him only days ago
