From the booking experience through to our stay and then reluctantly leaving the Log Cabin, everything was A+ standard. Having stayed at the Log Cabin for 3 nights over the Waitangi long-weekend I can honestly say the photographs - although lovely - at the various websites advertising this special place do not do it justice. We were a group of 5 adults, 2 children and 1 infant, so 8 in total, and found everything perfect. The house was impeccably clean and tidy when we arrived. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed for the many meals we made in it, and, the large diningroom table was great to sit around, drink and chat before and after dinner. We unfortunately did not get much use out of the outdoors table and chairs due to frequent drizzle and rain. The bedrooms were spacious and with surprisingly comfortable beds (we've slept at many hotels, motels and holiday homes and always had issues with the beds). The only thing we could fault were the pillows - 1 per bed when we needed 2 per bed and also they were not comfortable. The children loved playing on the lush, freshly mowed, front lawn and running around the enormous Flax bush. The fact that this area was entirely fenced in was a huge bonus for the adults who could then relax and know they were all safely secured. The spa was sparkling clean and used many times over including by the infant who sat on the highest little seat so his head was kept above water. We were also extremely privileged to be able to use a brand new BBQ that the owners and operators bought and set up just before our arrival. Recommend that guests sign up for a Zenbu account before you arrive and then top it up as you need (pricing options start at $10) but even then the service was "patchy", however, none of the adults or children were unhappy about this because we all felt that the Log Cabin was a chance to escape the world and get away from our computers and mobile phones. A short walk away is a river with a large, and in places deep, water hole that was also used on numerous occasions by the adults and children. Although icy cold they all said it was hugely refreshing and a fun experience as they spotted eels and the children could swing from a rope into the water. Did lovely walks close by and it was a breeze driving to Paeroa for groceries and Waihi for a beach walk and swim. A big thank you to the Log Cabin owners and operators, and their cleaning staff, for making our family get together special and memorable. We will definitely be booking again.

We adored this place! We booked it as a summer holiday but ended up weathering out a storm here instead. We still managed to get in plenty of forest walks, river swims, and log cabin fires. It was perfect. The bbq and the stove were very slow so cooking was a challenge. Lucky we were not in any hurry. We would stay again but would think twice about how to prepare meals.
