Easily located course just over an hr away from auckland traffic permitting! First impressions were very good and looked like a well maintained country course. Car Park had just about enough parking for everyone. It was busy as it was Anzac day. It was disappointing to realize there was nowhere to have a warm-up swing. Would be great if they could invest in some nets or something to loosen up. When you are of a certain age and over, you need a warm up after an hr sitting in a car. Practice green was good, just enough room round to practice the edge of green chips. There was, however, no staff on site. It was busy, and a couple of people had booked carts but were struggling to get hold of anyone to be able to get keys and even pay for their round. Considering it was busy would have been nice to have staff working this also applies to monitoring tee off times the play was dreadfully slow as no one was controlling the first tee everyone bunched up or was playing in groups of 5 or 6. As a single who made a point of booking a tee slot with empty slots either side to avoid slow play that was Disappointing spent an average of 10 mins on each tee after the 5th even after playing through a 6 ball group and a 5 ball. The course itself has a lovely layout of some interesting holes with good fairways for the time of year. Each hole had its info board visible on the tee - something not all courses do and really should for people on their first visit. It's easy walking with a trolley and some great views on the back. 9. I can't help but think that in a few years, once more trees grow around the perimeters, it will be much more appealing as you won't feel surrounded by roads. The greens had a lovely covering of grass and are obviously well cared for. There were few pitch marks here and there, but that's just due to the clients of the day, there wasnt any lasting damage noticeable, so kudos to the green keeper! For some reason, they played pretty slow compared to other courses I have played recently. I suspect, however, this is just down to the time of year, and the course will really flourish in summer it will be more than worth the trip! Green fees are as you would expect for a course in the area at market rates. It is a step up from the other course down the road on sh2. Overall, it's a decent track, and the downsides are i suspect only down to it being a holiday. i will play again in the summer and would recommend to others looking for a hit out. 3 out of 5. Will re review in the summer as should be higher.
