Smokin Reels Fishing Charters

Went fishing Dave on early January. Expectations were clear up front that fishing wasn't likely to be good that day given the circumstances. However, we had a decent morning of good fun. Dave was friendly, helpful and a highly experienced skipper. Very happy with our trip so thank you.

Awesome trip with Dave, Im no experienced fisher by any means but he was kind and helpful to bait my hooks and pull off my snappers every 3 minutes. Bless Will be back next summer with the family and will be enlisting Daves charter service as my first port of call. Thanks man

We booked 4 charters over a week with Dave from Smokin Reels Fishing Charters. There were 7 of us, and we are all from Australia and we were keen for a post-Covid fishing trip. Our group consisted of very experienced fishers, with an Australian charter boat skipper/retired commercial fisher/charter deckie and some senior members from ANSA. Dave gave us the full Coromandel experience - from fishing the mussel farms, some shallow water stray lining and an afternoon session of slow jigging. With Dave's local knowledge, flexibility and commitment to ensuring we had a great trip, we caught some fantastic fish - which is always a bonus. We returned over 300 snapper/kingfish and other fish in our 4 trips - including the 2 in the photo, and Dave was cool with us only keeping a few pan-sized fish for a feed that night. We have found from previous trips that some skippers don't like it when you return most fish to the water. I highly recommend Dave for anyone wanting to have a great fishing adventure in a fantastic part of New Zealand.

Went fishing with Smokin Reel Charters in July 22. A quick hop over the ditch with some pretty ordinary weather on the way. Dave was super accommodating and at short notice we were out fishing before the weather turned nasty which it did about 1/2 way into the Charter. We got a feed (kept 4 nice fish) and caught and released another 15 or so before we had to pull the pin. All in all a great morning on the water and next time will try for a March visit

Dave is an absolute legend. Was a great boat, brilliant day and Dave helped out all day. The kids loved it plenty of fish and good chat. Cheers.
